News & Events

St Anne's enjoys working hard and playing hard together as a church family. Therefore there are regular events for the family to get involved in which are listed below and on the left. Weekly newsletter items will also be posted below to give an overall feel of what is happening at our church.

Items for the Julian Trust can be placed in the basket at the back of church please. specifically requested are: UHT milk, tinned tomatoes, tinned tuna, squash, tinned custard, margarine and washing powder. Your donations will be greatly appreciated in helping the charity to assist Bristol's homeless & rough sleepers.

Cake 'n Shake is a new toddler group with a difference. It is not replacing KRASH Club but in this group the priority will be on the parents - although the children, of course, will be well looked after and have a great time as well. There will be healthy snacks to enjoy and a treat of some delicious cake for the adults who will also hear a little about an important aspect of parenting - based on the excellent book written by Madeleine Stanimeros. The group will meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month (September 20th this month) at 10.30am in the Orchard Rooms. Help will be needed in the form of caterers and assisting in setting up and clearing away - as well as chatting informally to the children and adults. If you can spare a couple of hours each month please see Jo as soon as possible.

Upcoming Events.

The “St Anne’s Shed” (our churchyard working party) meets every Monday @ 1.30pm

Tuesday 11th September @ 10.30am - KRASH Club in the Orchard Rooms.

On Tuesday 11th September 'Hungry for God' begins. This will be an evening of worship and prayer with a relaxed atmosphere. The evening starts at 7.30pm in the Orchard Rooms and be finished by 9.00pm. Please speak with Bruce to find out more.

On Saturday 15th September we aim to do some much needed clearing in both the church and the churchyard. Building on the great work that the St Anne's Shed do, we are aiming to tidy up the flower beds outside the church and the Orchard Rooms, which have not been tended this summer and so some clearing and pruning is necessary. There is also always plenty of other clearing needed in the wider churchyard!  In the church we have accumulated a number of things we no longer need and there are some places out of reach of our hard working church cleaners. To make these tasks as easy and fun as possible it would be good to have as many people as possible come along to lend a hand. We aim to start at 10.00am and complete by 2.00pm - after enjoying a 'Bring your Own' snack lunch - either outside or in the Orchard Rooms. Hot and cold drinks will be provided.

Tuesday 18th September, from 10.00am, Coffee & Chat in the Church Hall.

Wednesday 19th September @ 2.00pm.  Mothers'Union meeting in the Church Hall.

Thursday 20th September @ 10.30am. Cake 'n Shake in the Orchard Rooms. See details above about this new, exciting opportunity for parents, carers and toddlers to get together, with the emphasis on the adults!

Sunday 23rd September @ 2.00pm - TABS Walk.  As part of their fundraising TABS are organising walkathons in September in various parts of the country. Here in Oldland Rachel is organising a walk around Willsbridge Mill & Siston Brook (approx. 4km) followed by a cup of tea and a slice of cake in the Orchard Rooms. It will be an opportunity for you to find out more about the charity, contribute to the ongoing work and possibly become a Friend of TABS. Registration for the walk costs £5 per adult & £1 per child 3-16 years (£5 educates and feeds a child for a month). The walk begins at the wooden bridge at the bottom of School Road. Text 07847 407949 to register (so there will be enough cake!).
